Instructions

Before Endodontic Treatment at Bloom Endodontics

If you have been advised by your dentist or physician to use antibiotic premedication for any heart conditions or joint replacement procedures, please make sure that you have taken this medicine an hour before your treatment appointment.

After Treatment

  • Refrain from chewing on the treated side until anesthesia and numbness have gone away, to avoid biting your cheeks or tongue.
  • Avoid chewing any crunchy or sticky foods on the side of the treated tooth to avoid any damage to the restoration your tooth is sealed with after treatment is completed.
  • Schedule an appointment with your restorative dentist to have your permanent restoration (often a crown) placed according to your treatment plan. Your tooth will be sealed once endodontic therapy is completed, and having it restored as soon as possible gives you the best chances for a successful case.
  • Minor soreness at the treated tooth or surrounding gum tissue for 2-3 days after treatment is normal. If there is any concern, please contact our office.
  • Dr. Gibson will provide you with instructions for pain management, personalized to the treatment that was completed and your medical history, at your appointment.
  • If there is any discomfort or swelling that is not resolved following your treatment, please contact our office immediately at 843-647-6052.
